Issues
An issue is a reported problem on a unit — a brake squeal, a cracked mirror, a dead battery. Find them under Issues in the sidebar (administrators can switch the module on or off in Settings).
Reporting an issue
Anyone on the team can report one: pick the unit, write a short summary, and optionally add a longer description, a priority (Low through Critical), an assignee, and a due date. Assigning an issue rings that person's notification bell.
Issues can also be born from a failed inspection item — one click on the Item Failures page carries the unit, the item, and the note across, and keeps the link.
Working the list
The Open tab sorts most-urgent first, with overdue and priority badges; search covers summaries and unit numbers. Each issue's page is where triage happens: edit the priority, assignee, and due date as things develop.
Resolving and closing
- Resolve when the problem is fixed (an optional note records what was done).
- Close when it won't be fixed — a duplicate, a won't-fix, a misreport.
- Reopen if it comes back.
Either way the issue keeps who did what and when. Issues never delete — closing is the archive. If the issue came from an inspection failure, resolving or closing it clears that failure from the follow-up queue too.
If your workspace uses the Service module, open issues can be attached to a work order — and they resolve automatically when the work completes.
Safety recalls
Issues → Recalls watches the national (NHTSA) recall registry for your fleet. Every night, OnLot checks each make + model + year you run and lists any open campaigns against the specific units affected — with the component, a summary, and the manufacturer's remedy.
For matching to work, units need their make, model, and year filled in (Vehicles → Add & Manage — the Decode button fills all three from a standard VIN). Heads-up: golf carts and similar off-road units usually aren't in the national registry; this feature earns its keep on road vehicles like trucks, vans, and trailers.
Each affected unit tracks its own status: Open (new), Acknowledged (you know, remedy pending), Resolved (remedy done). One click creates a work order prefilled with the campaign's remedy, and open recalls also show as a red banner on the unit's detail page. Admins can trigger a check on demand with Check NHTSA now.
