Notifications
The bell in the top bar is OnLot's tap on the shoulder: anything that needs your attention lands there, and you choose exactly which events are allowed to ring it.
The bell
The bell shows a badge whenever something's unread. Open it for the most recent items, click any of them to jump straight to the thing it's about, or use Mark all read to clear the badge. View all notifications at the bottom opens your full history — every notification you've ever received, with an Unread filter, and mark-read controls per row.
What can ring the bell
Depending on which modules your administrator has switched on, OnLot notifies about:
Rentals & customers
- Overdue rentals — a nightly sweep flags each unit out past its due-back time.
- Online bookings — a customer books (or pays a deposit) on your public booking page.
- Remote waivers — a customer completes a waiver from an emailed link, so the counter can stop chasing them.
- New citations — a toll or citation recorded by a teammate.
- Pickup queue activity — a party joins the queue, or a unit is claimed for one (requires the Pickup Queue module).
Maintenance & fleet
- Failed inspections — a unit failing a checklist rings everyone.
- New issues — a teammate reports a problem (the assignee gets an assigned to you notification instead).
- Assignments — an issue or work order assigned to you specifically.
- Completed work orders — a work order you opened is finished by someone else.
- Preventive maintenance — a daily digest while service-program tasks are due or overdue. It replaces yesterday's copy, so the bell always holds exactly one current summary.
- Safety recalls — the nightly recall check matches new campaigns to your fleet.
- Warranties — a warranty enters its final 30 days.
Parts & operations
- Low stock — a part falling to its reorder point (once, at the crossing, not on every dip).
- Received purchase orders — a purchase order you created is fully received.
- Expiring documents — a document is one week from its auto-delete date.
- Reminders — a reminder enters its heads-up window, and again if it goes overdue.
Choosing what you hear about
Everything is on by default, and the choices are yours alone — they don't affect teammates. Open your profile (your avatar in the top bar) and find the Notifications panel: each event type has a checkbox with a plain-English description. Untick anything you don't want; retick it any time. Event types for modules your business doesn't use won't appear at all.
